World Record attempt in Mobile Gaming
Swedish game developer Jadestone today announced the intention to break a World Record in Mobile Gaming during the E3 show in Los Angeles. Never before has a game been played by so many simultaneous players – on one and the same phone.
Press Release
Stockholm, Sweden
May 5, 2006 - For immediate release
Wednesday May 10 at 4.30pm (PDT) at the E3 Trade Show in Los
Angeles, USA, will be when the historic World Record is set.
The record attempt will be held in the Nordic Pavilion at E3,
West Hall 2352. Thanks to Kodo, the new award-winning mobile
puzzle-action game it has been possible to allow many friends
to compete each other, simultaneously on the same phone. Up
to 8 players on most phones, but theoretically 26 players on
some handsets, can participate in a frantic quest for
survival.
The actual number of players taking part in the official
record attempt is still to be determined but Tommy Palm,
designer of Kodo, said:
"Kodo is designed to be a social event in itself, more than a
game. The idea behind it is to let people have fun and laugh
together. Obviously the more players the merrier but
practical issues have so far limited the actual number in all
mobile games. Our intention is to squeeze in at least 8
players on a Nokia 6280, but we'll see...It might be possible
to add even more people."
Anyone interested, is cordially invited to attend the record
attempt. Refreshments will be served as well as the
opportunity to try out Kodo or even participate in the actual
record breaking. Please contact Marcus Legler, details below,
for information.
