World Makers secures $3m investment from Makers Fund

Multiplayer game developer says it "is all about bringing innovative social experiences to life"

Game developer World Makers (formerly Automation Games) announced today it has raised $3 million in a seed investment.

The funding was provided by venture capital firm Makers Fund.

The company said that the investment will goes towards continuing the development of its horror multiplayer horror game, Deceit, which launched on Steam back in 2017 and is now heading to consoles in 2022.

The title has reached 13 million downloads since launch, World Makers said, and 17,000 peak concurrent users.

The studio also plans to start new game projects that it says will "push the technical and gameplay boundaries of modern video games."

World Makers was founded in 2015 by CEO James Thompson and technical director Jord Fox, whom are joined by platform director Shivam Mistry, design director Oliver Hodge, and analytics director Joel Mills.

"World Makers is all about bringing innovative social experiences to life," said Thompson.

"We are hugely excited to be working with the Makers Fund team as we ramp up our projects at such a pivotal time for virtual worlds and multiplayer games."
