World Cyber Games US Online Preliminary Registration Opens April 28
The World Cyber Games U.S. program officially begins April
28. If you want to go pro, you've got to win here first. Open
to all gamers - whether amateur or professional - online
preliminary registration for the US is available on this
site: http://us.worldcybergames.com
This year's WCG official PC titles are: Counter-Strike 1.6,
Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, FIFA 06, Starcraft: Brood War,
Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Warhammer 40,000: Winter
Assault. Official Xbox 360 titles are: Dead or Alive 4 and
Project Gotham Racing 3.
This year's WCG live event program will also include a number
of U.S. only competition titles, which encompass some of the
most popular console games in the US. These include: Madden
NFL 06, Major League Baseball 2K6, Halo 2 and Geometry Wars
for the Xbox and Xbox 360.
Winners from the online preliminaries will qualify to compete
in Pacific, Midwest, South or Northeast regional events held
in June, July and August. All finalists will be flown to the
U.S. National Final to be held in September (location and
dates TBA). The winners of the U.S. National Final represent
the country's best gamers and will form Team USA and will be
flown to the WCG Grand Finals in Monza, Italy (October 18 -
22) to defend its title of overall Grand Champion against 700
gamers from 70 countries around the world.
The World Cyber Games is the world's largest e-Sports
festival. Often imitated, the WCG is the premier global
e-Sports competition, held in 70 countries and with more then
1.25 million participants in 2005. Over $2.5 million in cash
and prizes were awarded in 2005. Microsoft is now the premier
sponsor of the WCG, while Samsung continues as the WCG
worldwide sponsor.
