150 of America's finest to clash at the New York Anime Festival later this month.

Two Members of the Public will Have the Chance to Earn a Spot on TEAM USA and Compete at the Grand Final in the Samsung Mobile Challenge

NEW YORK, NY, September 16, 2009 - World Cyber Games (WCG), the recognized leader for global video game competitions, welcomes more than 150 of America's very best gamers to the New York Anime Festival held at the Jacob K. Javits Center this September 25-27 for the WCG USA 2009 National Final. The players will be battling it out in 10 top video games for the chance to take home a share of more than $100,000 in cash and prizes. More importantly, 20 WCG USA gold and silver medalists at the competition will earn illustrious spots on the roster of gaming's only TEAM USA and the opportunity to battle the world's elite players at the WCG 2009 Grand Final taking place in Chengdu, China this November. TEAM USA will join over 700 international players from nearly 70 nations, who will compete for more than $500,000 in cash and prizes and the title of world's best gamer. TEAM USA captured top honors at the 2007 Grand Final and placed third overall in 2008.

Gaming fans will be able to see several elite competitors live at this year's National Final, as returning members of last year's Team USA squad will be in attendance. The WCG elite gamers will participate in the best games on PC, Console and Mobile, including Half-Life®: Counter-Strike™ 1.6 (PC), Starcraft®:Brood War™ (PC), WarCraft® III: The Frozen Throne™ (PC), FIFA Soccer 09 (PC), Carom3D (PC), Gears of War 2® (Xbox 360), Guitar Hero® World Tour (Xbox 360) and Virtua Fighter 5 (Xbox 360), Asphalt 4: Elite Racing (Mobile) and WiseStar2 (Mobile).

Additionally, every fan and gamer who feels up to a challenge will have the opportunity to walk-up and compete in the Samsung Mobile Challenge featuring Asphalt 4: Elite Racing and WiseStar2. Gamers who prevail in either title will win an honorary spot on TEAM USA and travel to Chengdu China to play 11 other nations.

Adding to the grandeur of the event, the entire cast from the hit SyFy reality show WCG Ultimate Gamer will be invited to the National Final to meet fans of the show and attendees of the festival. WCG Ultimate Gamer participants will put their gaming reputations on the line as they welcome challengers in this year's 'Free Play Area' where fans can take on the cast, or each other, in featured games. Additionally, WCG and their partners will be giving away truckloads of free merchandise including games, electronics and gaming gear.
