The online game publishing group GALA, operator of the gPotato portals in Japan, Europe and America, adds its support to the World Community Grid project to help scientific research with shared computing power from its communities. The World Community Grid is a shared computing program which aims at helping public and non-profit research programs by sharing the required computation among thousands of personal computers. Sponsored by IBM, the World Community Grid already proved its efficiency by helping to identify 44 possible treatments against the deadly disease smallpox.
