Nintendo's upcoming Wii Software service, known as Wii Ware in Japan and North America, is already proving popular with developers, according to company president Satoru Iwata.

"We've already received proposals for over 100 titles from software development companies," Iwata said during a press conference this week, according to a Kyoto Shimbun report translated by IGN.

"We've made a platform for developing software at low cost, and would like to offer a new business chance based around a battle of ideas," he added.

The Wii Ware service is set to offer users new downloadable games designed specifically for the home format, and can be purchased via the Wii Shop

Titles so far announced for Wii Software include Dr. Mario, Pokemon Ranch Channel, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Bomberman.
