Wii and DS head THQ sales list
Earnings from Nintendo platforms rose sharply in last quarter
THQ has released additional information about its performance in the last quarter - when its losses tripled to USD 27 million - with a detailed breakdown of which platforms earned it the most money.
Way out in the lead is the Nintendo DS. Games for that platform earned THQ USD 27.2 million, up 55 per cent on the same period last year, while the Wii also performed much better, taking USD 23.3 million - up 269 per cent on the previous year's quarter.
The PC platform was third with USD 23.2 million, up 28 per cent, while the Xbox 360 was fourth, almost doubling its revenues on the previous year with USD 20.1 million.
The main faller year-on-year for the publisher was the PlayStation 2, down from USD 25.6 million to USD 19.9 million, although the PlayStation Portable in sixth was up USD 2.5 million to USD 10.4 million.
The PlayStation 3 was next, posting USD 6.7 million compared to an empty quarter the previous year, while the mobile division took just over USD 5 million.
The Game Boy Advance dropped significantly, although still took over USD 1.6 million, while the GameCube yielded USD 53,000 and the original Xbox nothing at all.
