What MMO

Free monthly mini-magazine from Future hopes to answer precisely that knotty question.

10/07/08 – Future, the UK’s leading games media company, is tapping into a rapidly growing online gaming phenomenon with a new monthly FREE mini-magazine, What MMO.

The free 16-page title focuses on Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOs) and will be inserted into 150,000 copies of Future’s PC computing and games magazines each month in the UK – including PC Gamer, PC Format, PC Zone and Windows Vista: The Official Magazine.

The MMO genre continues to see massive growth, with games like World of Warcraft attracting 10million users worldwide. New launches like Age of Conan and the upcoming Warhammer Online are garnering lots of attention fron new and traditional PC gamers alike. Unlike normal role playing games, MMOs have persistent virtual worlds with players simultaneously interacting with each other in games that continue to evolve even when you leave the game.

The monthly mini-magazine is also available as an ezine at www.whatmmo.com What MMO will include previews, details of the latest online updates and MMO community round-ups. What MMO also promotes Future’s high-profile gaming events: the PC Gamer Showdown – in association with LG and the 26th Annual Golden Joystick Awards.

Publisher for Future’s computing and games portfolios, Richard Keith, said:

“PC gaming is in a massive period of change – with the way people buy, play and respond to games rapidly evolving. Future is adapting its PC portfolio to reflect this fast-moving landscape, with What MMO and our new live event, PC Gamer Showdown at the forefront of our developments. What MMO gives Future the chance to give more attention to the rapidly expanding MMO universe – allowing us to connect directly with players and advertisers alike.”
