We R Interactive finds new investor

Former Liverpool FC managing director Christian Purslow to join the board of social publisher

Social games publisher We R Interactive has received investment from former Liverpool FC managing director Christian Purslow.

This is Purslow's first investment since leaving his position at Liverpool. He will also join the We R Interactive board in the role of non-executive independent director.

"We R Interactive ticked all the right boxes for me initially as an investment," said Purslow in a statement, "and then as an opportunity to be involved in a business where I can help its future development."

Purslow was a founding partner of the mid-market private equity company MidOcean Partners and Deutsche Bank Capital Partners. He also held important roles in mergers and investments for Schroder Salomon Smith Barney and Credit Suisse First Boston, among others.

"Christian is a hugely respected figure in both the private equity and sport industries," added We R Interactive CEO David Rose. "We're delighted that he shares our vision for where we want to take We R Interactive and to be adding his incredible experience to the board."

We R Interactive's first project, the social and online game I AM PLAYR, launched in Beta in March. The company raised $5 million in second round funding in May.
