Warthog developing Richard Burns Rally for Gizmondo

British-based developer Warthog has announced its first project for the forthcoming Gizmondo handheld console, with the studio working on bringing SCi's Richard Burns Rally franchise to the new platform.

British-based developer Warthog has announced its first project for the forthcoming Gizmondo handheld console, with the studio working on bringing SCi's Richard Burns Rally franchise to the new platform.

Warthog will be working directly with platform holder Gizmondo Europe on the project, thanks to a licensing deal announced earlier this week which saw Gizmondo being granted the rights to develop and publish a dozen SCi titles.

"We really like Warthog's work," commented Gizmondo Europe managing director Carl Freer, "and Richard Burns Rally makes an excellent addition to our gaming content. Warthog's pedigree in the game industry is a much-appreciated asset and we're very excited about what they're bringing to Gizmondo."

The Gizmondo device, which integrates a games console, mobile communications deck, GPS system, camera, and music and movie playback functions, will be launched in the UK later this year. No street date has yet been set for Richard Burns Rally on the platform.
