War Child's Armistice raised $260,000

Developers supporting the charity event more than doubled last year's total

War Child's Armistice charity gaming event more than doubled the amount it raised last year.

In 2017, War Child's first ever Armistice finished with $122,000. In its second year, the event doubled that total, with $260,000 raised to fund War Child's work with young people whose lives are affected by war.

The event was supported by Wargaming, Blackmill Games/M2H Game Studio and Positech Games, all of which were involved in last year's campaign. The roster was greatly expanded for 2018, however, with support also coming from 11 bit studios, Gameloft, Focus Home Interactive, Social Point, Natural Motion, Creative Assembly, Big Huge Games, Flaregames, MiniClip/Tencent, Digital Legends, WeirdBeard and Seasun Games.

"It's phenomenal to see the campaign grow massively in just 12 months and reach players across the globe - from working on our first ever Steam promotional sale to adding mobile to the mix with Google Play's support," said Wayne Emanuel, gaming development manager at War Child UK, in a statement.

"We are already anticipating building on our work so far with 2018's Armistice, which will mark 100 years since the end of The First World War."

War Child's Armistice is based on a distinctive premise, in which developers raise money for the charity by promoting peaceful gameplay.
