Walking Dead by Telltale coming to retail, Activision publishing FPS
Telltale's adventure sees a retail release as Activision announces a different take
Telltale Games' five-episode Walking Dead adventure series will be getting a retail release in North America following the fifth episode's launch. Telltale also confirmed that a possible second season for the series is in the cards.
"We believe there is no better company than Telltale to bring complex narrative IP to interactive entertainment," Telltale senior vice president of marketing Steve Allison told Polygon. "Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first 8 weeks with no signs of slowing down. We have three more episodes to go with Episode 3 targeted for August as we confirmed yesterday."
"Following the digital release of our fifth episode we will also be coming to North American retail shortly thereafter and this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do."
At the same time, Activision has announced its own Walking Dead game, based heavily on the AMC television series. According to IGN, the game will be developed by Terminal Reality and will follow the struggle of brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon just prior to the events of the show. The game is expected to be released for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2013.
"Regarding today's announcement of a project based [on] the AMC TV series coming in 2013, as huge fans of the franchise and the show, we're looking forward to seeing Terminal Reality's game when it comes out," said Allison.
