Vivendi has reported that revenue for the first half of 2007 for its Vivendi Games division is up 68.9 per cent over the same period last year.
The company credits the increase to sales of World of Warcraft. Burning Crusade, the first WoW expansion pack, was released in Q1 2007 and sold 3.5 million copies in its first month.
Revenues from some Vivendi divisions such as Universal Music Group and Canal+ Group declined or remained on par with the prior year. The parent company, Vivendi, reported an overall revenue increase of 6.4 per cent.
Vivendi recently announced that the World of Warcraft subscriber base had reached nine million users.
