Paris - Nov 30 , 2007 - Vivendi Games Mobile, a division of Vivendi Games, today announced the European launch of Urban Attack, the long-awaited, original and inventive first-person-shooter (FPS) mobile game which has already received impressive review scores and previews from press and fans from around the world. Urban Attack is now available on mobile phones throughout Europe and will be available starting January 2008 in North America.
Urban Attack for mobile has been in development for more than twenty months and is the result of considerable research and development involving advanced 3D vectorial graphics and designed to function across more than 400 handsets. Urban Attack takes the shooting genre to an entirely new level with a number of features never before seen on mobile phones.
"We are very excited to launch the highly anticipated Urban Attack and are extremely proud of delivering a game that truly represents an evolution of the action game on mobile phones," said Paul Maglione, president of Vivendi Games Mobile. "Urban Attack leverages intense graphics, an engaging storyline and unique gameplay into a totally new franchise that we are sure will take mobile gaming to the next level."
The title features an extremely varied and deep plot-driven storyline including 60 different shooting phases, 100 character animations, three unique shooting modes and five weapons options. There are 14 different enemy behaviors, ten side-quests and four unique environments including an underwater adventure. The game also features a revolutionary grid/keypad targeting system designed for optimum phone-specific ergonomics and a real-time sniping mode. The kinematics, enabled by state-of-the-art 3D rendering, produces a unique and fluid wire-frame appearance that reinforces the near-future storyline.
The innovation of the game has carried over into a creative marketing program that featured live action (filmed in the Paris underground) and wireframe animation "teaser" videos posted to YouTube, Daily Motion and other video-sharing Web sites; the online posting of a series of "Making of Urban Attack" videos filmed in partnership with French television channel Game In TV; and more recently with the launch of a title-specific state-of-the art Web site at www.urban-attack.com offering Urban Attack-themed online games and a free demo download code.
