Video game blog Siliconera starts "Clicks for Charity "
Los Angeles, CA November 27, 2006 - Siliconera, a video game blog, is starting a new program called "Clicks for Charity". This special advertising section donates 100% of its profits directly to charitable causes. Now gamers can get the latest video game news and make the world a better place at the same time.
In the past Siliconera ran charitable advertising programs, which raised money to buy toys for Toys for Tots and a video game console package for a hospital. Since these past projects were a great success, Siliconera is permanently adding charitable advertising to their website. This new "Clicks for Charity" advertising section appears on all pages of Siliconera. All profits from this section are going to be used towards making a positive difference in the world. Executive editor Spencer Yip says, "This is a project I'm proud to be a part of. I'm fortunate enough to be able to write about something I love. To see my work at Siliconera translate into helping people in need is a true blessing." The first charity selected is the Mercy Corps which helps provide emergency disaster relief and economic support for people around the world. Other charity groups are welcome to contact Siliconera on how to be selected for "Clicks for Charity".
The video game industry is a multi-billion dollar business with rising internet advertising dollars. Siliconera believes this new advertising solution will bring an increased awareness of an advertiser's product and help people that aren't fortunate enough to have life's basic necessities. In the past Siliconera has experienced higher than normal click through rates for their charity programs and expect similar results in the "Clicks for Charity" section. Advertisers who would like to sponsor the "Clicks for Charity" program are encouraged to contact Siliconera.
To kick off this new program, Siliconera is offering their readers a chance to win two Nintendo Wii consoles, one for them and one for a friend. The "Wii for you and Wii for me" contest begins today and runs through December 2006.
