Vicious Engine

Selected by Frozen Codebase for their XBLA title Zombie Wranglers and their WiiWare offering Fresco Beach.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. - August 14, 2008

Vicious Cycle Software announced today that Frozen Codebase is utilizing Vicious Engine, Vicious Cycle’s leading middleware solution, to power their upcoming Xbox LIVE® Arcade title, Zombie Wranglers, published by Sierra Online, WiiWare™ sandcastle building simulation Fresco Beach (working title) published by Konami, and a third unannounced game.

“After the positive experience with the Vicious Engine during the development of our earlier Xbox LIVE title, Elements of Destruction, we decided that it made great sense to use the middleware again for our three upcoming games,” said Ben Geisler, executive producer and president at Frozen Codebase. “So far the production processes for all titles have been smooth thanks to the powerful toolset offered by Vicious Cycle.”

“The creative staff at Frozen Codebase has really showcased the versatility of Vicious Engine through Zombie Wranglers and Fresco Beach,” said Eric Peterson, president and CEO of Vicious Cycle Software. “Vicious Engine offers a balance of flexibility and stability that is up to any task, from developing an action-survival comedy to a building simulation.”

Zombie Wranglers and Fresco Beach represent two latest entries in a growing list of diverse, genre-crossing titles that have been created using Vicious Engine. The adaptable, easy-to-learn middleware has been used to design games of every style, including adventure/platformer games like Dead Head Fred, best-selling Flushed Away, deeply-addictive casual fare like Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords™ for Wii™ home videogame system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, and even instructional/educational titles like Discover Babylon and INNOV8.

Vicious Cycle Software recently announced a new version of the company’s proven game engine, Ve2. Ve2 offers a suite of new and improved features on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, including an updated lighting engine, an animation blending component, and modern pixel shader technology, all optimized for current platforms.
