Valve, CCP and Team17 add core slant to Casual Connect Europe
Next month's event will also host GREE's Andrew Sheppard, Square Enix Montreal's Patrick Naud and King VP Stephen Jarrett
Valve's Chet Faliszek and GREE International's Andrew Sheppard will both issue their predictions for 2017 at Casual Connect Europe next month - the former for mobile and social games, and the latter on the emerging market for virtual reality.
Valve's Faliszek is representative of a streak of core developers at an event generally associated with casual and mobile games. While Faliszek will discuss "Virtual Reality in 2017," CCP Games CEO Hilmar Petursson will offer some "Stories from the Dark Side of Hardcore Game Development," and Debbie Bestwick MBE will draw on her experience with Team17 to offer survival tips to independent developers.
Sheppard, CEO at GREE International Entertainment, is the show's keynote speaker, and his talk will outline innovations to expect in mobile and social this year. Other notable speakers covering more typical territory for Casual Connect include King's VP of game design Stephen Jarrett, and Square Enix Montreal studio head Patrick Naud, whose team built Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO and Deus Ex GO.
The event, which takes place in Berlin, will also offer a stage to the founders of leading German companies, including Wooga CEO Jens Begemann, GameDuell CEO Kai Bolik, and Flaregames CEO Klaas Kersting.
