US Wii sales pass 30m units

Wii Play, Guitar Hero III best-selling first and third-party games

Sales of Nintendo's Wii have passed 30 million units in the US in the 45 months since release.

The best-selling Nintendo game on the system is Wii Play, followed by Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit. Activision's Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock is the best-selling third party title, followed by Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games from Sega and LucasArts' LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

"More than any other videogame system in history, Wii has expanded the world of videogames to new audiences," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

"This milestone is another reminder that people want fun games they can play with others – all at a value-minded price."
