Development platform accrues 100,000 registered users; future plans to be announced at GDC.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - February 16, 2010 - Unity Technologies, the provider of the market-leading Unity development platform for 3D interactive content on the Web, PC, Mac, Wii™ and iPhone, announced today that it has surpassed the 100,000 registered user milestone. The opportunities for Unity developers are diverse and endless with the number of viable publishing channels, like Facebook and the App Store, on the rise and users wanting a consistent experience across the Web, desktop, gaming consoles and mobile devices.

To help developers take full advantage of this dynamic market, Unity Technologies will further expand support for its powerful development platform. The company will announce its strategy and new opportunities for Unity users at the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC), the world’s largest professionals-only game industry event taking place March 9-13, 2010 in San Francisco.

“Reaching an audience is an increasingly complex endeavor, and developers want the option of leveraging a variety of channels and platforms to maximize the potential of their games. Users consume content differently – it’s our job to make sure we give them options that suit their lifestyle,” said Marc Andreoli, partner at GameResort, the developers of the popular Unity-based Downhill Bowling® game. “We’re very happy that we chose Unity for Downhill Bowling® as it allowed us to take the game from the Web to the App Store in one easy step, immediately extending our reach and giving consumers the chance to play on their computer or iPhone. We plan to leverage this cross-platform deployment even further with the release of Downhill Bowling® 2 later this year.”

The Unity platform makes it possible for developers to author content once and deploy everywhere so they can maximize the ROI on their projects and quickly deploy on multiple platforms.

“It’s amazing we’ve reached this milestone so quickly,” said David Helgason, CEO of Unity Technologies. “We remain laser focused on pushing the edge in interactive 3D development and expanding usability, power and platform reach so developers can continue to create breakthrough content and take advantage of all the opportunities out there.”
