Underground

Side-scrolling shooter set in a graffiti-riddled transport system, available on the App Store now.

United Kingdom – September 16th, 2009 Chillingo, the leading iPhone publisher and game development studio Kinelco today announced the immediate availability of their fast-paced side scrolling shoot em up, Underground on Apple App Store.

Underground takes you on a journey with a graffiti artist through the underground transport system as you battle through his inner demons on a mission to rectify a previous art crime. Fight your way through a series of street art inspired levels and lift the curse that haunts their every move. Unfold the story as you stop at each beautifully 3d rendered station and get closer to the truth behind the myth. Classic 2d side scrolling shoot em up gameplay takes you between the stations and represents the thoughts and anxieties of our cursed artist as they make their way to their final destination.

The game uses the iPhone and iPod touch’s tilt and multi touch controls and multi-directional shooting action, using the touch screen. There are three difficulty levels: Easy, Hard and Impossible! You can explore over 60 different enemies with a vast range of behaviors and battle them with 11 different weapons.

The graffiti artwork in Underground is created by Mr Frames, who has previously been commissioned by the BBC, MTV and Royal Academy of Arts. Mr Frame's contribution lends the game an air of authenticity that is bound to impress the graffiti community and iPhone owners alike. Finishing touch to the game is the immersive and original Hip Hop music score composed by Pp3d.

"Mr. Frames’ cutting-edge graffiti plus an original hip-hop music score from Pp3d are groundbreaking features in the shoot-‘em-up genre,” said Johnny Coghlan, Head of Publishing for Chillingo. “These elements combined with accessible but intense gameplay results in a game that will appeal to anyone with a genuine sense of style.”

"Underground is a solid shooter with a great story line, beautiful visuals. It’s fun to play and the varied enemies and powerups available will keep things fresh as you replay the story line,” "Paul Barnes of Kinelco Gamessaid, CEO of Kinelco.

Underground is available for $3.99 from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore
