UKIE doubles membership in less than a year

86 members onboard as association moves away from publisher bias

Trade body UKIE has doubled its membership in less than a year, with a total of 86 members.

What used to be considered a publishing body now includes developers, multi-media platforms and broadcasters, distributors, all of Skillset's accredited games design and animation universities, retailers, media owners, service companies and the three console platform holders.

"Doubling the size of our membership in less than a year means that we can now truly say that UKIE represents all parts of the interactive entertainment industry," said chairman Andy Payne.

"We are now no longer pre-dominantly a publisher trade body, as for the first time non-publisher interactive entertainment businesses make up the majority of UKIE membership. We look forward to this new balance of membership being reflected in the UKIE Board elections later this year."
