Konami has scored the top spot in this weeks All Formats Charts, with Pro Evolution Soccer 6 achieving the highest week one sales since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Although early selling of the title by retailers willing to break the street date has clearly helped its position, it has also become the fastest-selling Xbox 360 title, overtaking Capcom's Dead Rising record.
The game's feat is particularly impressive given that it was up against the highly anticipated Xbox 360 version of previous chart-topper FIFA 07.
Elsewhere, with seven new releases entering the top forty it's a surprise to see that only one other has managed to penetrate the top ten - Rockstar's Canis Canem Edit making its debut at number five.
EA's FIFA 07 stays its ground at number two in the charts, despite the launch of the 360 SKU on Friday, while The Sims 2 Pets sits at number three and last week's number one, Football Manager 2007, falls to number four.
Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent slips one place to number six, while VU Games' Scarface: The World is Yours drops to seven.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 climbs one place to number eight thanks to its own 360 release on Friday, with Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy and THQ's Cars holding the number nine and ten positions respectively.
Guild Wars: Nightfall makes a strong entry in the charts for a PC and online only standalone expansion, at number 15, while Buzz! Junior: Jungle Party proves there's still plenty of life in the quiz format.
Another party favourite, Singstar: Legends, debuts at number 24, while the last current-generation Mortal Kombat title, Armageddon, enters the charts at number 27. And sitting behind at number 28 is VU Games' child-friendly dragon, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning.
Finally, acclaimed PC game Dark Messiah of Might and Magic from Ubisoft manages to enter the charts at number 34.
