THQ has landed its first number one in the UK this year, with urban racer Juiced narrowly knocking EA's Medal of Honor: European Assault off the top spot after two weeks at number one.
Only 700 sales separated the two games, while another THQ title, Destroy All Humans, took third place in the chart - down one place from last week's position - and EA's Cricket 2005 climbed one place to number four.
That left Sony's critically acclaimed God of War with a fifth-place debut, which is a good ranking but still slightly disappointing given the exceptionally strong reviews and word of mouth which have accompanied the title across the Atlantic.
The only other new release in this week's chart is Microsoft's Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack, which arrives at number 13 in the ranking - while the biggest riser in the ranking is Activision's Madagascar, which jumps seven places to number six off the back of the launch of the Dreamworks movie.
Missing in action in this week's chart is DS title Bomberman, with the classic Hudson franchise failing to make an impact on the ranking despite the promise of an 8-player battle mode from a single cartridge.
This Friday sees the launch of Activision's movie tie-in Fantastic Four across all platforms, while Capcom will launch stylish action title Killer 7 on PS2 and Cube, and Activision launches anime franchise Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament on the PS2.
