UK Charts: Harry Potter leads new release surge

EA's latest Harry Potter game takes the number one spot this week as seven new releases jump into the top forty.

EA's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has jumped into the number one spot in the UK all-formats charts this week, as the top forty is shaken up with a batch of high-profile new releases.

Take 2's new IP The Darkness makes a strong debut at number two this week, fending off Activision's movie tie-in Shrek the Third.

Nintendo's Resident Evil 4 re-enters the charts at number four this week thanks to the release of the Wii Edition, with Nintendo also claiming the top five with DS sequel More Brain Training From Dr Kawashima.

Last week's number one, Forza Motorsport 2, is pushed down the charts to number six, while Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas also climbs back into the top ten thanks to a release on the PlayStation 3.

Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End drops down the charts to number eight, as does Take 2's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer at nine and Wii Play at ten.

Other new releases in the top forty this week include Codemaster's Overlord at 13, Midway's Hour of Victory at number 23, Ubisoft's Call of Juarez at number 26 and Microsoft's Tenchu Z at 31.
