Ubisoft's Clancy deal estimated at 60 million euros

Ubisoft's recently announced acquisition of the Tom Clancy brand has cost the company an estimated EUR 60 million, according to analyst firm Wedbush Morgan.

The publisher has acquired the IP for use in videogames and related products, and already has a successful portfolio of Clancy titles including the Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games.

Wedbush Morgan estimates that the deal EUR 60 million deal will be paid over three years with potential earn-outs of up to approximately another EUR 15 million.

Ubisoft expects to save at least EUR 5 million per year by eliminating royalty payments.

The latest title in the Tom Clancy portfolio – Rainbow Six Vegas 2 – has shipped one million units according to the publisher, with Wedbush expecting Ubisoft to ship 1.7 million units this quarter.
