Ubisoft licences multiplayer middleware
Quazal's Rendez-Vous, Net-Z and Spark! products to be used in upcoming titles
Ubisoft has signed a deal with Quazal to use its multiplayer middleware solutions within upcoming games.
The European publisher now has the license to use Quazal's Rendez-Vous, Net-Z and Spark! products across all its titles. Quazal will also provide Ubisoft with long-term consulting and support.
"Online features and the development platform on which to build them are becoming the foundation of alternate monetisation strategies for publishers," said Sylvain Beaudry, CEO at Quazal.
"In standardising on Quazal's proven solutions, Ubisoft, one of the world's largest and most successful game publishers, has demonstrated that the maturity of Net-Z, Rendez-Vous and Spark!, in conjunction with our extensive consulting capabilities, represents a natural winner when selecting an online technology provider."
Ubisoft's executive director of worldwide studios, Christine Burgess-Quémard, added: "Cutting-edge multiplayer experiences are increasingly important to successful games."
"By securing this enterprise deal, Ubisoft is positioning itself to be at the forefront of the next generation of online enabled titles."
