Ubisoft Entrepreneurs Lab continues blockchain focus

Publisher's start-up program also looking into services to "improve entertainment experiences before, during and after gaming sessions"

Ubisoft is changing things up a little for the fourth year of its start-up Entrepreneurs Lab.

For one thing, the fourth season of the program will see it expand beyond the Paris Station F start-up hub, incorporating three teams working out of Singapore's Pixel "innovation space." On top of that, the publisher has again shifted its focus on which emerging fields of technology it wants to explore with its partnered start-ups.

As in previous years, blockchain technology and how it can be used in entertainment will be a focus. However, the second topic of interest for Ubisoft this year is "Extended Entertainment services and finding how innovative services can improve entertainment experiences before, during and after gaming sessions." Previous areas of interest for the Entrepreneurs Lab program have included VR, AR, and AI.

The following teams will be working with Ubisoft out of the Paris campus:

  • Azarus (United States)
  • Wildcards (South Africa)
  • CareGame (France)
  • Immersiv (France)
  • Savitar (France)
  • Sorare (France)
  • Synaps (France)

The following teams will be working with Ubisoft in Singapore:

  • Mighty Jaxx (Singapore)
  • Story Puppet (Singapore)
  • Planetarium (South Korea)
