Ubisoft delays Brothers In Arms to 2005

Publisher Ubisoft has reportedly delayed the release of its WW2 first person shooter Brothers In Arms to early 2005, moving the launch of the multi-platform title away from the busy Christmas market.

Although the firm issued a release schedule early last week indicating that the title was still on track for a launch in quarter four of this year, it allegedly told journalists at a Paris event later on that the title had slipped.

No reasoning for the slippage was given, but aside from the obvious logic of moving the game away from the hugely competitive Christmas period - where it will face strong competition from Ubisoft's own line-up as much as anyone else's - it is rumoured that developer Gearbox Software is having trouble getting the PS2 version of the game up to scratch.

The title, which has been judged as highly promising by those who've had a chance to see it, will likely now form the backbone of Ubisoft's Q1 2005 release schedule - leaving the likes of Prince of Persia 2 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory to wave the flag for the French publisher in the holiday sales season at the end of this year.
