Ubisoft brings call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth on PC to Europe
6 March 2006
Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, announced that it has reached an agreement with Bethesda Softworks to publish the highly anticipated survival horror game, Call of Cthulhu®: Dark Corners of the EarthTM.
Call of Cthulhu®: Dark Corners of the EarthTM is based on the Call of Cthulhu® paper-and-pencil role-playing game, which is itself inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's novels. Call of Cthulhu®: Dark Corners of the EarthTM, developed by Headfirst Productions, will be available on PCs in UK on March 24th 2006.
"Ubisoft is excited to enable PC gamers in Europe to enter the cult universe of fearsome creatures and occult plots created by H.P Lovecraft." said Alain Corre Executive Director for EMEA territories at Ubisoft. "Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth offers a diverse range of cutting edge special effects that ensures both unprecedented levels of realism and visual exhilaration."
We are thrilled to be working with Ubisoft on Call of Cthulhu", said Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks. "PC gamers throughout Europe are eager to get their hands on a title with such dynamic gameplay and intense horror elements."
About Call of Cthulhu®: Dark Corners of the EarthTM:
As Private investigator Jack Walters, the player is sent to the little town of Innsmouth to look into a missing person case. He will soon understand that several persons are missing and that the town hides terrible secrets. His adventure will lead him to face terrifying situations and hideous adversaries. Not only will the player have to keep Jack Walters alive, he will also have to preserve the detective from going insane if he wants to uncover the mysteries of the Great Old Ones.
Set during the 1920s, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is based on the Cthulhu Mythos inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, an American fantasy and horror writer. Lovecraft, whose work has profoundly influenced numerous fantasy and science fiction writers including Stephen King and Anne Rice, tells stories of unthinkable evil, psychic possession and mythical worlds. The game's technology enables Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth to be presented as an incredibly detailed and accurate depiction of the sights and sounds of this unique 1920's setting inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos.
