Publisher Ubisoft has added another development studio to its stable with the acquisition of French developer Tiwak, although it's not known whether the studio's Xbox adventure title Tork will be resurrected.
The acquisition comes after Microsoft cancelled its publishing deal with the developer for Tork last April, promising at the time to help with finding another publisher for the title, which Tiwak CEO Yann Le Tensorer described as "almost finished."
No mention has been made as to whether Microsoft was involved in brokering this acquisition deal, or whether Tork - a prehistoric action adventure game - will now be published by Ubisoft.
The new deal is important for the 17-strong Tiwak studio, according to Le Tensorer, because "creating hits requires considerable resources, which Tiwak is no longer able to gather. We truly believe that by joining the Ubisoft group, this will allow Tiwak to reach a higher level in terms of quantity and quality, thanks to the expertise and the scale of a first rank group."
