Two new hires at RockYou as Katrina Osio and John Yoo join
Multidisciplinary marketeer and CityVille lead designer join social team
RockYou has announced the hires of senior vice president of marketing Katrin Osio and creative director John Yoo, with Yoo working on an as yet unannounced title for the company.
Osio has held marketing positions at many digital media and games companies, most recently at Fastpoint Games but also AOL, Time Warner, and Sidebar. She will oversee user acquisition for RockYou's social games, corporate communications, branding, and product marketing. Yoo, who has worked on World of Warcraft at Blizzard, comes fresh from a post as lead designer on Zynga's CityVille, which was recently crowned Facebook's most popular app.
"RockYou is committed to creating quality titles and supporting the creative freedom of our developers," says Yoo. "I look forward to working closely with our in-house team and studio partners as we continue our mission to pioneer the next generation of social games."
RockYou has seen a round of recent acquisitions, including Manchester's Playdemic. More recently, RockYou signed up Loot Drop, a social start-up headed by industry legends and id Software co-founders John Romero and Tom Hall.
This period of growth follows a period of some unrest at the company. In November, then CEO Lance Tokuda stepped down to allow a more experienced executive to take his place. Not long before this RockYou fell foul of a Facebook investigation into UID sharing, as well as an account hacking scandal and a round of staff layoffs.
