Tune Runner

Two tunes from Denver band Breathe Carolina added to musical shape-drawing game.

Fearless Records is the latest music partner to join micropublisher Appy Entertainment to use the new iPhone game, Tune Runner, as a discovery platform for promoting new music and bands.

Starting today, "Hey Baby, Here's That Song You Wanted" by blessthefall, and "Hello Fascination" from Breathe Carolina are featured atop Tune Runner's Hot List. "Part of the joy of Tune Runner comes from discovering new music through our Hot Tunes list, where we feature tracks from exceptional bands we know our players will love," said Appy Entertainment CEO Chris Ulm. "These songs aren't just great Tune Runner levels -- these are great tracks, and we're pleased to showcase this music to the hundreds of thousands of fans playing Tune Runner."

Released last month for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch, Tune Runner is the musical shape-drawing game where every song you own creates a unique game level. The game has been downloaded over 200,000 times, and thousands of fans around the world have posted their scores for songs by artists across the musical spectrum, from contemporary pop hits to classic rock.

"Fearless Records is very excited to work with Tune Runner," said Nate Matzelle of Fearless Records. "Music applications are such an important part of music discovery because they bring a new level of interactivity to the fan and we feel Tune Runner is just that."

"Tune Runner is a different kind of music game, one where players can experience levels created from any song they own," said Paul O'Connor, Brand Director for Appy Entertainment. "Appy is an independent game developer, and we've found kindred spirits with Fearless Records. We're proud that fresh and original artists like blessthefall and Breathe Carolina have chosen Tune Runner as the vehicle to bring their music to interactive life on the iPhone."

Breathe Carolina

Breathe Carolina got their start recording tracks on Apple's GarageBand in their Denver, CO home before gaining nine million plays of their music on MySpace, setting the stage for their debut album, "It's Classy, Not Classic," in 2008. Their song for Tune Runner -- "Hello Fascination," is the title cut from their latest album, and the band is presently on a North American tour that will see them play three dozen cities before the summer is through.

blessthefall is a Phoenix, Arizona post-hardcore band that's bootstrapped themselves from selling out hometown shows to touring Canada and the United States, playing cuts like "Hey Baby, Here's That Song You Wanted" from their new album from Fearless Records, "Witness." blessthefall is a scrappy and forward-looking band that has endured internal repairs and come out stronger for the experience, and represents the kind of startup spirit exhibited by Appy Entertainment, a new developer entering their second year in the iPhone app marketplace.

"We always dreamed that Tune Runner would be more than a game -- that it would be a way for people to connect with music in a new way, and to discover new bands and new music to change their lives in fundamental ways," said Appy Project Director Emmanuel Valdez. "Now that dream is becoming a reality. With bands like Breathe Carolina and blessthefall getting on board Tune Runner, we're just getting started on an amazing trip, and there's no telling where it will lead."
