True Games appoints former EA online director as CTO

Online gaming company also announces HQ move to Austin, Texas

Online gaming company True Games has announced the appointment of Mick Giles to the role of CTO.

Giles brings with him more than 13 years experience working in management roles for companies such as EA, Turbine and Sony Online.

He most recently served as senior director of online operations at EA, and prior to that led core development, operations IT and business development efforts for Asheron's Call, Dungeons & Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online at Turbine.

"Mick brings to the team an extensive background in technology, operations, platform management and more, and we look forward to adding his expertise to our management team," said Jeff Lujan, founder and CEO of True Games.

"With one live game in Warrior Epic and one game about to go into beta in Mytheon, as well as multiple games in development, his expertise and experience is a welcome addition to the team."

True Games is also to move its headquarters from Irvine, California to Austin, Texas, consolidating its two North American offices. The company started a game development studio in Austin earlier this year.

"Over the course of the year our company has changed from a publishing-only focus to one that includes a heavy emphasis on our game development," said Lujan. "Bringing our North American staff together under one roof will allow us to grow and nurture our development process, while also providing synergies and complementary support to our development team in Beijing."

True Games was founded in January 2008 and focuses on free-to-play MMOs that leverage micro-transaction revenue models. It launched its first game, Warrior Epic, in spring this year.
