Trion World Network has announced the hiring of Frederic Descamps as senior director of worldwide marketing, charged with rolling out European operations.

Descamps spent the last four years as senior director of marketing and business development of Xfire, where he was responsible for executing online marking campaigns for brands that included Blizzard, Cadbury Stride, EA, Fox, Intel, Pepsi, and Unilever.

"We are excited to have Frederic join the senior ranks of Trion' marketing team," said Peter Matiss, Trion's vice president of marketing and sales.

"His hands-on experience implementing highly successful online marketing campaigns and his deep understanding of growing online communities provides Trion with the right expertise to launch our groundbreaking new capabilities and content on a global scale."

At Trion, Descamps will take on core online marketing responsibilities, which will include maximizing Trion's next generation social network platform and player acquisition. Descamps will also focus on European marketing operations, reinforcing Trion's global presence.

Trion was founded by former EA and New World Computing execs and recently established a San Diego development studio led by SOE veteran Nicholas Beliaeff. The company also received a USD 30 million round of funding which included partners such as Time Warner, GE/NBC Universal, and Bertelsmann AG.
