Game gets global release

Glu has announced that a new game based on the forthcoming Transformers film is now available for mobile phones.

It's the first ever mobile game based on the Transformers brand, which first debuted in 1984 and has since grossed more than USD 3.1 billion in sales. The new movie, which is out on July 4, is has been produced by DreamWorks and Paramount and directed by Michael Bay.

In the mobile game, players take on the role of Optimus Prime and must search for the Allspark, a source of energy hidden on earth. Converting from robot to vehicle and back again, players will battle the evil decepticons across 20 different levels with the help of other autobots.

"Glu has truly captured the essence of the Transformers property," said Hasbro's Jane Ritson-Parsons.

"Through their expertise and mobile platform, we can deliver entertainment that is relevant for fans of all ages and delivers on the Transformers promise of more than meets the eye."

The Transformers game and associated personalised content, including wallpapers, screensavers and voicetones, is now launching throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia via more than 150 carriers.
