Toon Football

Cartoon Network's virtual currency goes on sale to gamers in the Philippines via mobiusonline.

(Manila, Philippines, June 23, 2010) – Football fans and gamers in the Philippines will now be able to purchase Cartoon Network’s virtual currency through Southeast Asian online payment portal, mobiusonline, for the popular soccer-based game, Toon Football as part of the engagement between Turner Entertainment Networks Asia and mobiusonline.

Mobiusonline is the digital media platform and payment system of game service provider Digital Media Exchange (dme).

“We are delighted to seal this partnership with Turner Entertainment Networks, as this initiative goes parallel with our goal to provide the Southeast Asian gaming community easy access to more in-game currencies and items of online games,” said dme CEO Scott Countryman. “By making the Toon Football currency available in our mobiusonline payment portal, Filipinos can easily purchase in-game currency using ePoints.”

“This partnership with mobiusonline will enable Cartoon Network to offer our fans an even more engaging experience on our Toon Football site,” said Benjamin Grubbs, Regional Director of Interactive Media, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia. “By enhancing the game playing experience for our users, we will be able to offer kids a truly innovative and immersive way to interact with our brand and characters beyond the TV set.”

Launched in March, Toon Football is a free-to-play online game that catapults players into the crazy world of Cartoon Network. Players create their own unique avatars (choosing hair styles, skin color, eyes, gender, outfits and shoes) and can join an existing team or create a new team with friends or family! Each team consists of four players plus one Toon which can be chosen from Cartoon Network favorites, including Chowder, Dexter, Four Arms and many more. Choose a team to challenge or let the system arrange a match. Each team member plays the game separately, so players can ‘go for goal’ at their own convenience. Mobiusonline has also engaged with other games such as Eve Online, Rakion, and Nindou to sell its currencies within the portal, reinforcing its goal to make more games accessible to Southeast Asian gamers. Moreover, mobiusonline has made more than 1,000 games accessible to Southeast Asian gamers through its partnership with the Ultimate Game Card.

The payment portal further provides a safer and more convenient way of transacting online by enabling payment using prepaid cards.
