Tira Wireless Positions for Growth with Addition to Board of Directors, New Executive Team Members
Doug Barre, Former Borland COO, Appointed to Tira Board of Directors; Tom Colby and Gwyn Fisher Named Senior Vice Presidents
TORONTO -- January 11, 2004 -- Tira Wireless, the premier provider of porting technology for the mobile Java content market, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Doug Barre to its board of directors. The company also announced two new additions to its executive team: Tom Colby as senior vice president of sales and business development; and Gwyn Fisher as senior vice president of product development.

Industry veteran, Doug Barre most recently held the role of chief operating officer at Borland. During his three-year tenure, he was instrumental in almost doubling revenues to US$300M, increasing the company's market opportunity, and growing the organization to more than 1,600 employees worldwide. Prior to joining Borland, Barre held senior management positions at Compuware Corporation in North America and Europe. He also held technology leadership positions with mobile telecommunications leaders in the Canadian market, including Bell Mobility and AT&T/Cantel (now Rogers Wireless). Barre began his career supporting technology needs at Texaco. During his 25 years with the company, he held a number of senior positions including CIO.
Also joining the team is Tom Colby as senior vice president of sales and business development. He will be responsible for taking Tira's sales and business development efforts global and growing the sales force as Tira introduces new products into the market. Colby brings more than 25 years of experience in sales and business development, including co-founding a sales consulting firm and holding senior sales management positions where he built national and international sales teams at Lawson Software, Computer Associates, SAP and Pansophic Systems.
Gwyn Fisher, serving as Tira's senior vice president of product development, will manage Tira's delivery of technology as well as product development. Fisher has 15 years of experience in technology spanning positions around the globe, including work with such companies as Fulcrum, LumaPath, Hummingbird and PCDOCS.
