One Man Left Studios released the iPad version of its iPhone hit, Tilt to Live, on October 7th. Tilt to Live, currently enjoyed by more than half a million users, is an arcade shooter with a unique combat system. Rather than endlessly firing at enemies, players must evade them long enough to reach a weapon orb. On contact, each of the nine unlockable weapon orbs unleashes a different offensive attack, including a burning barricade, an ice blast, and the almighty spinning spike shield. All of this action is controlled exclusively by responsive, customizable tilt controls.
Tilt to Live HD provides users with more than a mere resolution bump for their money. While the iPad edition retains the four gametypes, nine unlockable weapons, and 43 award challenges from its iPhone predecessor, it also boasts completely revamped weapon effects, all new rules for the Gauntlet gametype, four times the arena space, and optimized tilt controls for the iPad platform. It’s bigger, it’s prettier, and best of all: it installs with a free demo.
One of the returning gametypes, iPhone’s Gauntlet mode, has been reworked from the ground up to take advantage of the iPad’s screen real estate. The new Gauntlet Evolved rule set focuses on points rather than survival time, and plays like a brand new gametype.
TtL HD is free to install from the iPad’s App Store, allowing users to sample the goods in demo mode. The demo includes the Classic gametype only, with four freshly-beautified weapons: the nuke, blastwave, cluster missiles, and ice blast. Demoing players can also participate on the Classic leaderboard. For an in-app purchase of $3.99 USD, the game’s full version becomes available, with access to all of the remaining unlockable weapons and gametypes.
Tilt to Live HD’s awards and leaderboards are provided by the AGON Online Social Platform for iPhone games.
