The Academy of Contemporary Music and Platinum Sound Publishing join UK developer body.

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK’s games industry today announced two new members: The Academy of Contemporary Music & Platinum Sound Publishing

The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), based in Guildford, Surrey is a world leading music industry education academy. Over the past 12 years ACM has developed some of the most innovative music industry education currently available anywhere in the world and offers full and part time courses in guitar, bass, drums, vocals, music production, creative sound design, tour production & management and music business.

In 2009 ACM introduced a new Music Business course at Higher Diploma level, which includes a module on Interactive Entertainment.

Helen Gammons, Business School Manager at ACM explains: “The Interactive Entertainment module focuses on the world of computer gaming, topics will include explaining the infrastructure of this market segment and looking at the process of creating, developing, publishing and marketing computer games.”

Essentially our courses are driven by the industry; we believe the future of the music industry is going to become increasingly interactive, browser, mobile and games based. By joining TIGA we will ensure our students and educators have access to real expertise and advice on working with this important industry.”

Platinum Sound Publishing (Platinum) is building a reputation for sourcing and producing music for a variety of multimedia purposes including games, film, TV and radio, advertising and corporate use. The company works across all musical genres from large symphonic scores, world and ambient music, to indie pop, dance, rock and quirky tunes for children. Platinum have recently secured deals with high profile major music publishers including Boosey & Hawkes and Peer Music as well as a vast collection of indie, dance and underground labels to help provide the games industry with quality cutting edge music. In addition, Platinum’s new Music Search database now also makes it easy for game producers and creative managers to search for their favourite game music or composers from the comfort of their own studio.

Adi Winman, Music Supervisor at Platinum said: “Joining TIGA is a natural progression for us. Over the past four years, we have worked with some of the biggest names in games, providing musical content across such platforms as Xbox 360, PS3, PC, PSP and Wii.
