Thunderbolts & Lightning Fairy Fairy Frightening

Classic Retro Game Stormlord Comes To Smartphones

For Immediate Release:

January 20th. Mobile games publisher Telcogames today released a brand new version of the classic side-scrolling platform game Stormlord, created specifically for Symbian smartphones and exclusively licensed from Ironstone Partners Ltd. under licence from Rebellion.

Originally released in 1989 for the Amiga home computer, Stormlord proved so popular it was quickly converted to all of the computer systems available at the time. Like all classic video games, the plot is fairly simple. The player takes the role of a warrior, fighting to free the fairy race who have been kidnapped by the evil queen Badh. Cue a whirlwind of jumping, fighting, puzzle solving and rescuing.

Within the game, the player can fire bolts of energy, or huge broadswords, depending upon how long the fire button is pressed. Platforms, locked doors, trapped fairy folk and even springboards ensure that each level is challenging, complex and fun. With dozens of enemies and one touch causing certain death, players will have to use all of their skill and precision to survive and conquer. From Venus fly traps and blood sucking leeches, through to huge dragons and giant eagles, the action never stops. In addition, there are bonus levels throughout the game, which allow the player to collect extra points.

Stormlord is the latest game to join Telcogames' world leading collection of classic retro titles for Symbian smart phones. In 2005 the company released a number of critically acclaimed and fondly remembered games, including Another World, QWAK, Nebulus and Cannon Fodder. With more old school classics lined up for release in 2006, Telcogames has firmly established itself as a pioneer in the creation and publishing of games for Symbian and Windows Smartphones.

The Smartphone version of Stormlord has been created by Magic Productions, Telcogames' own internal development team, who have been responsible for all of the company's Smartphone titles to date and are one of the most widely experienced Symbian game developers working in the world today.

Smartphones are the most powerful mobile phone handsets on the market. By creating games specifically for these devices, Telcogames can use the powerful processor, large screen and sophisticated controls found on Smartphones, allowing larger, richer and more complex games than can be found in the more common Java titles. There are over 48,000,000 Symbian Smartphones currently on the market*, with more than 60 different models from eight licensees*, creating a huge market for dedicated games and applications.

"We're very pleased with Stormlord and absolutely delighted to be bringing it to market," said Niklas Bakos, the Content & Marketing Manager of Telcogames. "It's another hugely enjoyable game and one which complements our existing line up of Smartphone games. Like all of these titles, we've tried to ensure that fans of the original and new players alike will be able to pick it up and enjoy it. The combination of platform accuracy and fast-paced combat action is something which is difficult to capture on a mobile phone, but once again, Magic Productions have pulled it off and created a game we're very proud of."

Stormlord is compatible with the following Series 60 (S60) handsets:Nokia 3230, 6260, 6600, 6620, 6670, 6630, 6680, 6681, 6682, 7610, N-Gage, N-Gage QD, N70 and N90.

The game can be purchased directly from www.handango.com. A demo version of the game can also be downloaded. Telcogames is making the game available to mobile network operators, portals and other sales channels worldwide.
