THQ Wireless Adds The Legendary Adventure Of Indiana Jones(TM) To Its Lucasfilm Offerings
Wallpapers, Ringtones, Film Clips and Games Based on Both Star Wars™ and Indiana Jones™ Movies to be Offered to Mobile Consumers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. - December 4, 2007 - THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced a new agreement with Lucasfilm Ltd. to create mobile games and personalization products based on two unforgettable movie franchises, Indiana Jones and Star Wars.
THQ's mobile games division, THQ Wireless Inc., has renewed and expanded its global licensing agreement with Lucasfilm Ltd. to develop an array of mobile games and personalization products that include wallpapers, ringtones and video clips that bring the enormously popular Star Wars saga and the unforgettable Indiana Jones adventures to mobile phones.
"Expanding and renewing our business relationship with Lucasfilm is a real coup for THQ and casual, wireless gamers everywhere," said Doug Clemmer, president of THQ Wireless. "Star Wars and Indiana Jones remain two of the most popular movie series of all time, with appeal that transcends both time and age demographics. Star Wars is one of our strongest THQ Wireless gaming franchises, and we look forward to building on that success, while we also create the first wireless content based on the adventures of Indiana Jones."
"Lucasfilm is delighted to continue its relationship with a worldwide publisher of THQ's caliber," said Paul Southern, Sr. Director of Domestic Licensing and Marketing. "THQ Wireless has garnered considerable acclaim for its library of wireless Star Wars titles, and we couldn't be more excited at the prospect of collaborating with them on future content."
The first mobile game titles scheduled for release under the agreement include Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, scheduled to release in late 2007; and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, scheduled for a 2008 release that will coincide with the worldwide debut of the LucasArts videogame that casts players as Darth Vader's secret apprentice during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. THQ Wireless also plans to create the first-ever wireless Indiana Jones game, which will be the only game released in conjunction with, and based upon, the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. A second Indiana Jones installment is scheduled to be launched in conjunction with the upcoming LucasArts console game.
THQ Wireless' growing line of successful Star Wars titles span several genres including the side-scrolling Revenge of the Sith, space shooter Battle Above Coruscant, first person shooter Battlefront Mobile, and action titles like LEGO Star Wars I Mobile and LEGO Star Wars II Mobile.
