THQ, Sony vets join MTV Games

Scott Guthrie to lead publishing business, David Cox to grow sales

Former THQ exec Scott Guthrie has joined MTV Games as executive VP and general manager, to head-up the company's fast-growing publishing division.

Also joining the company is David Cox as senior VP of sales, who joins the company from Sony Computer Entertainment America.

"With our acquisition of Harmonix to our relationship with Jerry Bruckheimer Games, MTV Games has quickly risen to become one of the top five videogaming publishers," claimed Van Toffler, president of MTV Games.

"We're going after the best in music videogaming with Rock Band and the best in story telling with our Bruckheimer partnership, and now we have the best leaders and team in place to bring MTV Games to the next level and grow through the next evolution in videogames."

Guthrie will direct publishing strategies including marketing, sales and distribution of all products, and is managed with growing the business in the US and worldwide.

Cox will report to Guthrie, and manage sales for the games division, with an emphasis on short-term distribution and long-term strategic sales strategies.
