THQ announces 'focused product strategy' management shuffle
Key execs promoted to lead three new business units
Publisher THQ today announced a reorganisation of its management team designed to support a more focused product strategy.
The move sees four of the company's key executives promoted into positions where they will manage three new business units - Core Games, Kids, Family and Casual Games and Online - into which the publisher's products will slot.
"The new structure specifically aligns our primary business units with our product strategy, enabling each team to focus on planning and execution in highly defined product areas with full profit and loss responsibility," THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell said of the move.
Key employees promoted to executive vice president roles are Danny Bilson, who will oversee core titles, and Doug Clemmer who will head up kids, family and casual games. Previous senior vice president of product development in Asia Pacific Steve Dauterman is set to take on the role of senior vice president of online and, in addition, Ian Curran has been promoted to executive vice president of Global Publishing.
"Gaming platforms such as the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s recently announced Project Natal are changing the way families play together and we are excited to develop gaming experiences that take full advantage of these platforms," said Clemmer who will be responsible for THQ's casual titles in his new role.
New online boss Steve Dauterman is equally enthused about what the move means for the company's online titles.
"We view the online gaming space worldwide as an important driver of THQ’s long-term growth," he offered. "Our strategy is to leverage our established brands such as Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40,000 and WWE into the dedicated online space.
"We will also be exploring new game concepts and new business models in emerging regions. My team will also work with our Core and Kids, Family and Casual gaming units to help make connectivity a part of their gaming experiences."
