The Week Ahead: Jan 14-18
The weekly GamesIndustry.biz preview of things to note for the next seven days, including a run-down of the main events and features.
Following the first part of our exclusive interview with the global president of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada, in which he talked about his desire to see the company become stronger force in the West along similar lines to Capcom and Sega, we'll have part two.
Plus we'll be kicking off a series of articles analysing the state of the games industry, and what it's like to work in, across the three key territories of the world - starting with North America.
There'll also be the regular Stock Report, analysing and rounding up the financial movements from the major global publishers in the previous week.
In terms of releases the year is still young, although anybody who managed to get hold of a Wii might be interested to know that there are a handful of titles on that platform due to go on sale on January 18, including Wii Chess, Geometry Wars: Galaxies and Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure.
With no new significant releases it's likely that the existing UK chart top ten will remain fair consistent again next week, following the expected drop in sales generally after Christmas. There's little likelihood of change in Europe either, with Nintendo a safe bet to feature repeatedly in both German and Spanish top tens.
