The Void teams up with ILMxLAB for Disney, Marvel VR projects
Multi-sensory experience company to create five new licensed hyper-reality events
Location-based hyper-reality experience creator The Void has partnered with Lucasfilm entertainment division ILMxLAB to create five new VR-style productions based on licensed titles from Disney and Marvel.
Fast Company reports that the first two of the five will be created as part of a close partnership with Disney Animation Studios and Marvel Studios. These will be based on upcoming Disney movie Ralph Breaks the Internet, and an as-yet-unannounced Marvel film.
The Void specializes in location-based "hyper-reality experiences," which include VR and AR elements as well as multi-sensory elements such as temperature and wind. Last year, it created such an experience with the Star Wars IP called Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire.
"Working with our friends at ILMxLAB to help bring Star Wars fans directly into that galaxy far, far away in such a strong creative process, it became apparent we needed to continue on this path as The VOID establishes itself as a leader in location-based entertainment," said The Void CEO Craig Watson. "This is just the beginning of our collaboration with ILMxLAB, Marvel Studios, and Walt Disney Animation Studios as together we broaden the possibilities for immersive storytelling experiences to reach places previously only available in the imagination."
