The Turtles enter the 'BattleNexus'
Konami of Europe expands Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™ series with all-new four-player action title
Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo - AKA the renowned Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesTM - are set to return in an all-new video game adventure, as Konami of Europe readies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2TM: BattleNexusTM for release across key formats.
Set for release on Game Boy AdvanceTM in November, with versions for PlayStation®2, the Xbox®, Nintendo GameCubeTM and PC DVD-ROM to follow in Q1, 2005, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: BattleNexus is a stunning four-player action title showcasing the martial arts skills of the four heroes in a half-shell. Players select their favourite Turtle and are charged with battling their way through five sprawling game worlds that are packed with vicious adversaries and massive end-of-level bosses lifted directly from the enormously popular TV series.
Boasting three game modes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: BattleNexus features a 'Story Mode' that utilises plots from the second season of the cartoon series, and features branching missions as the players pick a path through the game. Varying objectives, special areas designed to test key skills of the Turtles - and even their skateboarding prowess - all come into play, while over 30 different forms of attack are available, with each Turtle also benefiting from moves designed specifically for their individual weapon skills.
Additional modes include the 'BattleNexus Mode' which is a specifically multi-player battle, while the game's unique 'Antique Shop' can be used to unlock hidden secrets by attaining gameplay targets. The various versions of the game have also been specially tailored for their host machines, with the Game Boy Advance version of the game featuring slick visuals, a side-scrolling mode and facilitating four-player action via Nintendo's Game Boy Advance Game LinkTM cable.
Similarly, the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and PC versions of the game feature amazing cel-shaded graphics and backdrops that reflect the unique visual style of the cartoon series, and also have end-of-level adversaries that often fill the entire screen! An intelligent camera system is used to pan in and out as it tracks the action, leaving the player free to enjoy the mayhem Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: BattleNexus offers.
Veteran fans of the Turtles will also be delighted to learn that the original Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesTM arcade game - originally released by Konami's arcade division in the early 90s - is also included as one of the game's many unlockable bonuses, showcasing the longevity of Leonardo, Donatello and the gang!
The Xbox version of the game will also benefit from Dolby Digital sound, bringing every crunch and crash into breath-taking life.
With interest in the cartoon series continuing to grow, Konami of Europe's commitment to the Turtles series is truly confirmed with this entertaining action title. With over 50 stages, multiple routes and voice-overs from the animated show (English language versions only), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: BattleNexus marks a welcome return to one of the most endearing series and is certain to delight both Turtles fans and gamers in general in the coming months.
