The Producers pulls out of Trilogy alliance

Mastertronic business cuts all ties with distributor, with immediate effect

Mastertronic's videogames logistics company, The Producers, has announced that it has pulled out of a strategic alliance with distribution firm Trilogy - a deal which was only signed a few weeks ago.

In a brief statement to GamesIndustry.biz Mastertronic chairman Andy Payne said of the move: "We're announcing that The Producers, which is part of the Mastertronic Group, is withdrawing from the strategic alliance with Trilogy and cutting all ties."

Trilogy lists, among the publishers it works with, Square Enix, Ubisoft and 505 Games, and is thought to be the third largest entertainment distributor in the UK.

When the original deal between the two companies was signed earlier this month the MD of Trilogy, Matthew Allen, commented: "I know that the reputation of The Producers is strong and am really looking forward to working closely with Andy and his team. We really do think that the games industry needs a credible and capable alternative to the current choice of suppliers and we intend to offer that choice."

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Trilogy for comment.
