Tale of Tales releases translations of their indie horror game The Path, thanks to the help of many volunteers. The freely available patch translates the game to Danish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian or Spanish. Next to the initial release that contained English and Dutch, and the recent retail releases in Polish (by Topware in September) and Russian (by 1C last week), this means that The Path can now be played in 12 languages. Four more translations are on their way (Arabic, Czech, Japanese and Korean). The patch is a continuously evolving project.

Tale of Tales is an independent game development studio based in Gent, Belgium, and headed by media artists Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn. The Path is a short horror game for PC and Mac inspired by Little Red Ridinghood, with music by Jarboe and Kris Force. It was released in March of this year on Tale-of-Tales.com, Steam and Direct2Drive. The Graveyard was released in March 2008. In it you play an old lady who visits a cemetery and dies, maybe. Both The Path and The Graveyard were finalists in the Independent Games Festival. Fatale was released last October. It's an interactive vignette that explores the biblical legend of Salome and features character designs by Takayoshi Sato (of Silent Hill fame).

Next to the collaborators mentioned above, Tale of Tales regularly works with Laura Raines Smith (animation) and Gerry De Mol (music). The translations of The Path were made by Tobias Kosmos and Nicklas Beck Jørgensen (Danish), Yann Cossiaux(French), Susanne Laws (German), Kiss Helga, Dékány Csilla and Ország Tibor (Hungarian), Matteo Sarnari (Italian), Bruno de Figueiredo (Portuguese), Andra Andrei (Romanian) and Ricardo Oyon (Spanish).
