The Last of Us sweeps DICE Awards

Naughty Dog's adventure wins 10 awards including the Game of the Year

The 17th annual DICE Awards have just finished up and it was clearly Naughty Dog's night. The Last of Us dominated most categories, taking home a total of 10 awards, including Game of the Year, Adventure Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, and more. Other titles that won multiple awards included BioShock Infinite and Plants vs. Zombies 2.

The AIAS also took the opportunity to honor Eugene Jarvis (creator of Defender) with the Pioneer Award and the Rockstar team (Sam and Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies) with a Hall of Fame induction. Upon receiving the award, Sam Houser stressed that none of the 10 Rockstar members on stage could solely take credit. "It should be several hundred [here]... we're a family," he said.

As for the talented directors at Naughty Dog, Bruce Straley was very outspoken about Neil Druckmann, hugging him on stage and saying "he's my man." Straley pointed out that Druckmann is primarily responsible for the gripping story in The Last of Us.
