The Game Career Seminar

To be staged at this weekend's E for All in LA by the chaps behind GDC.

SAN FRANCISCO — Sept. 29, 2008 — The Game Career Seminar, programmed by Think Services’ Game Developers Conference (GDC), will take place alongside the Entertainment for All™ (E for All™) videogame expo October 3, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center ( http://www.gamecareerseminar.com/conference). The seminar will begin with an interactive keynote address titled “Design by Committee,” by Andy Schatz, CEO and founder of Pocketwatch Games, and Dan Paladin, artist for The Behemoth. The pair, who are both independent game developers, will use their different design sensibilities and input from the audience to brainstorm a new game design, while illustrating their work styles and thought processes.

The Game Career Seminar presents an opportunity for students, graduates and aspiring game developers to network with industry professionals from various companies and learn how to enter the thriving game development world.

Other speakers at the Game Career Seminar will include:

• Fiona Cherbak, Chair of the IGDA’s Women in Games Special Interest Group

• Carey Chico, Executive Art Director at Pandemic Studios

• Tim Lang, Lead Game Designer at Spin Master Studio

• Marc Mencher, CEO of GameRecruiter

• Scott Steinberg, founder of Embassy Multimedia Consultants and author of Get Rich Playing Games and Videogame Marketing and PR
